David Veness. General Manager, Clubs. Retired. NSW
David left a banking career travelling with the CBA to settle in western NSW and take up the position of Secretary Manager at Brewarrina RSL Club in rural NSW and then Secretary Manager of Gilgandra Services club shortly after.
“When I arrived at Gilgandra Services Club in 1998, I knew exactly what we needed to succeed. I had been introduced to (Generate Group’s) Bevlink system the previous year at a club trade show and saw in their offerings, the same level of integrity we had when I worked with the bank” said David. Substantial improvements were made in the first year with a significant net profit improvement in beverage trading and the club is still managed in the same manner today.
In 2002, David made his move to Bathurst RSL as General Manager and proceeded to implement system changes similar to those introduced at Gilgandra.
The result was significant improvement in the clubs bottom line. This led to the club being in a position to undertake major physical improvements to the club premises and allow the club to plan for the purchase of the club premises from the RSL Sub Branch. “This work was carried out without the need for borrowings due to the strong cash assets generated by the improved cash flow following the introduction of Generate Group’s technology and methods still in use at the club today. I wouldn’t try to run a club without it” said David.
David is now retired but still assists small rural clubs to generate value from essential business technologies such as Generate.
